Congratulations to Cousin Larry
January 29, 2007 by David.
Today my cousin Larry ordered a new Harley Davidson Road Glide. Black. This is his first Harley and he’s been badgering the sales guys at Latus Motors in Portland, Oregon for months now. It paid off. He got it for a grand under list. This is the shop I bought my two Harleys from and I thought I got a great deal on my 2005 when I got it for list price, but Larry got his for a grand under what I paid two years ago. Nice going, Larry! Now he’s faced with the challange of what to do to it right off the bat, but he’s got a month ’till it arrives.
So, be like Larry. Getcha one er dem oh sevens, ya hear?
Ok, I’ll spill Larry’s secret. The Albany, OR dealer is offering a grand under list till the end of January and Larry got Latus to match it. Actually, the Albany dealer is one of the most agressively priced Harley dealers you’ll find, so if you are within driving distance, I’d check them out. However, I can’t personally vouch for them as I haven’t ever been there myself.

Guaranteed Success
January 29, 2007 by David.
Recently I got an advance copy of Master P’s new book, Guaranteed Succeess - when you never give up. It was a timely message for me. A good book. I don’t know when it is being published, but it should be soon. Watch his site, the wealthy son.

20% off Harley Davidson parts
January 14, 2007 by David.
One of the best discount resources I’ve found for saving on stock Harley parts is Chicago Harley Davidson’s web site. They like to make it look like there is a limited time offer to their discount, but I’ve never seen their site without it. If you know the part number (those annual fat Harley catalogs are useful for something besides catching drool after all), ordering is really easy. When I ordered, the price didn’t show the 20% discount, so I called to ask why and was told they take it off after the order is placed. Sure enough, my bill came through for 20% less. Other than the occasional and rare dealer sale, this is the only way I’ve found to consistently get HD parts at a discount. Highly recommended.

Life is Good
January 12, 2007 by David.
I just gotta say that life is damn good! I’m really looking forward to this year and can’t wait to see everything that happens! This will be the best year ever. You know how it feels when ya go push through difficult stuff and then you can see rewards of all that effort starting to open up? That’s where we are right now. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.
We have started our move to the bay area. Well, one car, anyway. Sharlet is right now driving her Z-3 to San Francisco for some business meetings. That way we’ll have it to drive while there. Meanwhile I’m getting things wrapped up in Memphis. Looks like our main move will be in February and we’ll be going back and forth inbetween.
I’ve got the best wife in the whole damn world (not to mention the best kids) and I can’t wait to see what she makes happen in the next few months. I’ve got a few things up my sleeve too. Hummmm. I’ll leave it at that for now…

1&1 Web Host
January 11, 2007 by David.
I’ve used a couple web hosts and I like 1and1.com ALOT. Their hosting prices are very cheap and what you get is better than the average host. Like five bucks a month for 50 gig and 1000 eMail addresses - more than I could ever use. Domain names are as cheap as you’ll find anywhere: six bucks a year for .com. I have over 20 domain names and over a half dozen websites all under one account. This blog is a freeby with the account, too.
In the interest of full disclosure, I have exactly two complaints, but neither critical enough to get me to consider another host. 1) Their on-line eMail system is slow and overly basic, but since 99% of my eMail use is Outlook, that is a minor inconvenience when I travel only. 2) I wish their site statistics showed the search strings surfers use to find the site.
If you want exceptional value for your money, 1and1 is your host. To learn more, click the blue button on the bottom of the side bar.

The new number is 600
January 6, 2007 by David.
A couple days ago the latest issue of Motortrend Magazine arrived in the mail. Anyone who knows me knows I like horsepower. I’ve done my share of drooling over the Viper since before its introduction. However, the news of a 600 HP Viper for 2008 has me drooling all over again. Dang!!! Gotta get me one ‘a those!
By the way, the skiing in Vail on the drive back home was great…
